Purely female business

“Mmm, two girls, it’s quite dangerous, isn’t it?”
“Wouldn’t be better if a guy went with you?”
“You aren’t scared to go just two of you girls?”
Well, I will not lie that these questions let me completely without any doubts. But we can’t be the only women who have ever decided for a purely female adventure. So I started a little research on the internet.
Historically the first women who ever cycled around the world was the American immigrant named Annie Londonderry at the end of 19th century. Allegedly there was a bet which caused all of it. Anyway it took her 14 months to really manage and cycle around the whole world.
On the Czech cycling scene there are mainly men occur, either in mixed-doubles or like solo travelers. This “space in the market” was spotted by editor in chief of the magazine “Cycle tourism” Slávka Chrpová, born in Mladá Boleslav. And so her new project was born. It’s called “Island female cycle tourism”. She started to cycle around different islands with her female friends.
I didn’t find any other articles about female cycle tourists from Czech Republic. But I found a webpage of Loretta Henderson from Canada who was doing a solo bike trip around a world and she met a lot of other women like her and so she made a wall. Nowadays there are more than 245 solo bike travelers from different countries who completely by their own cycle through all parts of the world, including those dangerous states finishing “-stan”. Except of interesting life stories one can get a lot of useful advices and tips on this website.
All of those articles are a huge motivation and inspiration for us on our way. We’re glad to say that all our doubts have faded away.
