We said good bye to the German shores and came across the sea on a luxury ferry to Denmark. Right after landing we felt a completely different atmosphere. According to the map we were supposed to reach the camp after only few meters yet sadly, to our bad luck, we found out that it is an outdoor school place. And it was closed anyway. It was about 7pm, we had nearly 90 km behind us and another 20 km ahead. When we reached another camping place on the way we were already so exhausted that when we heard the price we had to pay for 1 night and 1 tent (like 30 EUR) we didn’t even had any force to
protest. For a better sleep the groundsman told us it was supposed to rain on the very next day. And of course, it was.

But Danish people obviously don’t mind rainy weather. They pull on the rain boots, raincoat and go to play a golf or for a walk. We also didn’t have any other chance than just to pull on our waterproofs, bit the bullet and go. There was one of the most beautiful Danish natural phenomena ahead of us- the
Mons Klint cliffs. How naive we were when we thought that we just came to the cliffs, took a selfie and quickly got out of there. We were just staring into the map at all those bike paths nets, only recommended for bikers with MTB bikes. Well, we do have MTB bikes but the single track (a very narrow path in a very rough ground), after the rain on the top, wasn’t really a good idea to cycle down with fully packed bikes. We were dropping like flies and after few kilometers of this we were searching for a better and more bike-friendly way which could have took us to the Geo Center Mons Klint. Finally we reached it and could have seen the beauty. However the place is more ideal for walkers than bikers. We found a nice basic wooden cottage with an outdoor fireplace. In Denmark you can sleep over on these places for free. As it wasn’t very lovely weather there was no one else besides us. The best thing about the fire
place was that there was also the fire grate so we were able to finally (for the first time since we left home) boil some soup. As we still didn’t have any working camping stove.
We were continuing on nice high- quality roads where there is always a path for bikes. The weather was finally better and we reached Copenhagen. All of the sudden the busy city life was all around us. The city was full of bikers, pedestrians, cars, buses, ships and trains. Only trams were missing. Nevertheless there was no chaos going on. Cars weren’t honking, people were smiling and you could have felt the calmness and peace everywhere. And what else do we remember from Copenhagen? The Little Mermaid really is
little, The Tivoli Park is noisy, the street with very nice colorful houses is romantic (but full of tourists) and every piece of seafront is occupied by Danish people. They relax or exercise in the outdoor fitness places. Last but not least there is the Christiania city part which you might not even recognize as a Copenhagen’s neighborhood. We tried to record a video in there but we were told it’s forbidden for some reason. (Maybe due to the fact that there is something tolerated a big time, however illegal and restricted everywhere around..)
